About me

I've been working in communications and marketing for over 30 years, starting out as a journalist on local newspapers and commercial radio in East London and Essex. I moved into media relations in 1997, spending nine years in the Government Communications Service, working for several cabinet ministers and government departments in Whitehall, before moving into the private sector, running the press operations for the UK's largest regulated water and wastewater utility. Throughout my career I've managed numerous crises for high-profile organisations such as Thames Water and G4S, provided communications counsel and training to senior executives and public figures in the UK and overseas; managed high-performing communications teams and functions; coordinated complex employee engagement and change management programmes and overseen company rebrands. I am a Freeman of the Company of Communicators, the City livery company.
